Biography
Brooke W. Lewis has been a board-certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) since 1999 and brings nineteen and a half years of experience practicing in the field of dermatology to the office of Ideal Dermatology. She moved to Boulder in the summer of 1999 from Chicago, Illinois after graduating with honors from Chicago Medical School’s Physician Assistant program with a Master’s of Science degree. Brooke began her career as a PA working in dermatology in Boulder at the Boulder Medical Center, where she discovered her passion for medical dermatology. She enjoys treating patients of all ages for disorders of the skin and skin cancers. Brooke earned her Diplomate Fellow status in dermatology through the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, SDPA (the only specialty organization to award a specialization designation for PAs -The Diplomate Fellowship program is an all-encompassing, online, didactic training program for PAs working in the field of Dermatology).
Brooke enjoys the challenge of diagnosing and treating skin cancers. Treating patients with acne, various sun, allergic and immune mediated skin disorders is a rewarding part of Brooke’s practice. She has experience with Botox and lasers.
Brooke grew up in Santa Barbara, California and attended Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York and majored in sociology. After graduation from college, she moved to Indonesia with a fellowship from Princeton University’s Princeton in Asia program. She worked for two years on the Indonesian island of Java in the town of Yogyakarta. She then moved to the island of Timor to open a new Princeton in Asia posting in the city of Kupang. On Timor, Brooke worked on public health programs for sponsored families with the nonprofit organization Child Reach. It was through her work with Child Reach, the sponsor families, and village communities that Brooke then decided to pursue her passion for medicine. Upon moving back to the United States, Brooke attended a post-baccalaureate pre-med program at Tufts University in Boston before moving to Chicago for PA school.
In her free time, you will find Brooke with her husband running (or swimming) after their three sons. Being with her family brings her great joy. All three sons play competitive water polo and swim with Summer Swim League. If the family is not at (or in) the pool they may be on an adventure with Scouts, biking, sailing, hiking, skiing, playing games, reading together or watching movies. They love to be together and as active as possible. In her more quiet moments, Brooke enjoys reading and knitting.
